A mother and her two children have been injured after being hit by a cement truck in Queens, New York, WABC reports. The victims were crossing the street at the intersection of Junction Boulevard and 55th Avenue when the truck, headed south on Junction Boulevard and turning onto 55th Avenue, struck them. According to WABC, the children’s injuries appear less severe than that of the mother’s.
The three victims were transported to Elmhurst Hospital for their injuries. A photo on WABC’s website shows what looks like a long skid mark from a cement truck’s right front tire at the scene. The driver of the cement truck is being interviewed by the police. No charges have been filed so far.
A young single mother was killed recently after being struck by a car in West Babylon. The 25-year-old lost control of her 2006 Nissan Sentra, which flipped on the Southern State Parkway near Exit 36. The woman was able to escape from the car, but was struck and killed by an oncoming vehicle while trying to get her possessions-against the advice of people who helped her, News12 Long Island reports. A police investigator said the driver who hit her did not see the woman or her vehicle because her lights were off.
